I haven't written anything in a while and thought is was about time. There's not too much going on. Expats are back from summer holidays & kids are back in schools so the traffic is back to the normal busy-ness rather than the summer slowness. (Reminds me of college towns when Fall classes start back up.)
Ramadan is in full swing. Restaurants & coffee shops are closed during daylight hours since no one is allowed to eat or drink in public. I'm sure things are busy at night but we haven't ventured out much. Some businesses (like a car dealership I heard about) have store hours of 9 AM to 1 PM and 8 PM to 3 AM! One grocery store is open 24 hours. That's very unusual here. I avoid the grocery store after 11 AM- it just gets too crazy.
Josiah is not interested in walking. He still only pulls up onto his knees. He will stand if we put him on his feet, sometimes. He has his 5th tooth. Who knows when it came in since he doesn't like us to look in his mouth. He does love to brush his teeth- go figure! He's really enjoying playing in his little kiddie pool- almost every other day. He loves to splash, throw his toys out of the pool, and spray the water hose even at himself. He never really caught on to the sign language we tried to teach him but he has said "all done" a few times recently and he waves bye-bye although usually after the person has left. :)I've rearranged the furniture in our house. I like the arrangement much better. Most floorplans here are simply a number of rooms attached to a main hallway. We had used one room downstairs as a guest bedroom. Now that room is our living room. (Our living room had been on the second floor.) The office is out of our bedroom [Steph: the wardrobe fits perfectly in the old office space & Jon, Delia & I moved it by ourselves!] and Josiah has a great play area. We still have a guest bedroom if you want to come stay with us!
(I tried to cut the video to the exciting end where Josiah actually waves bye-bye but it didn't work. Sorry, you'll have to watch the whole thing. The quality is not great since I took it with my phone.)

Hey! I can't believe how grown up his face is looking in that first picture! I guess the swimming pool thing means the gates got put up again? Do you like them??
love you - miss you,
steph
Oh - SO glad the wardrobe moved! I'm suprised! So you moved your bed as well, right....take a quick pick and post it (=
Yes, the gates are back! & not see through anymore. We have privacy in our front yard. Not pretty but functional so that means I like them. :)
I was also surprised the wardrobe moved. We emptied it and it slid across the floor easily- just had to avoid the lights & fan (only minor damage to the decorative part of the wardrobe up top.) The bed is also moved and Jon is now cool at night. Wish we'd done this ages ago! miss you too-
What a cute kid!
Josiah, you are getting very grown up. We are very impressed with your good-bye wave. Also with your swimming abilities. We love you; keep your parents busy. :)
Love,
Rachel & Rebekah
