The blog is much neglected these days. we were busy packing for our trip to the States & now we are having a lot of fun in the States- other than being sick. I'm not sure if it's simply the fact that Josiah is doing more but he seems to have an unusually large number of bruises & scrapes these days.
The biggest & most noticeable one is a vertical bruise on his forehead. He was trying to close a door (one of his favorite pastimes) and didn't move far enough out of the way and therefore hit himself with the door.
Before that he had taken a small tumble down the stairs at our house in Houston. He only fell about 4 stairs when he was trying to figure out how to go down. He's mastered going up. Thank goodness for carpeted stairs rather than our tile ones back home!
While wandering (crawling) around in the grass in the front yard he slipped on the concrete walkway and banged his head- slight road rash on the forehead.
Lastly, the "what a horrible mother she is" story. The house in Houston has a pool. Josiah & cousin Mia were playing at the edge. I kept pulling him back but he wanted to stick his hand in the water. A friend called so I sat in a chair next to the pool very near Josiah. Josiah took a tumble into the pool. I jumped up and rescued him but not before seeing the look of horror on my son's face when he was under the water. He coughed & sputtered a bit. I dried him off, changed his clothes & we went back outside- he went straight for the pool. In my head I heard myself saying what I have said a number of times to my husband "Just because Josiah is having fun doesn't mean it's safe!" (Can't believe I'm actually writing this story)
Jon's comment to all this "We need to get Josiah back to the Middle East where it's safe!"
