wet wadi

We were showing some friends that were visiting a wadi (valley) near our home. Jon has some experience driving in the sand but this was our first time to go off road in a wadi. It was definitely memorable!

Since a picture is worth a thousand words...
(Thanks to Becky for the videos/photos!)

Driving into the wadi- it was pretty dry until we hit this part...

Becky stopped filming just before we got stuck.

Jon didn't seem too bothered by the situation. I was not quite so calm.

This is the guy that we asked to help. We interrupted a nice German family's picnic. He had to come around behind us to tow us and that meant he had to cross the water too. He also got a bit stuck.

Josiah had been asleep in the car until this part. He woke up and didn't like the sounds of the cars driving on rocks.

The tow rope snapped!

Another car stopped to help (The 2 door SUV first), then this one. The Omanis were gracious.

Finally they got the car out. Notice Jon was the only one pushing at this point. :)

All in all not an experience to be repeated if possible but a memory none the less.

Oh my GOSH!!?!? What an event for you all! Man. the stories to tell. the shot of all the men standing around and Jon pushing is CLASSIC. You gotta love the commitment to help though! Even if they won't actually put their back into it (=

In defense of the Omani's that helped- they actually did all push at one point but that was too many videos to post! Jon said he asked one of them to drive since they are more experienced with this kind of thing.
