funny things an almost 4 year old says...

At dinner tonight when a friend asked his middle name, Josiah answered, "Josiah Wilks."
Friend trying to clarify, "No, what's your middle name?"
Mommy answers "Josiah David"
Josiah responds "That means 'come.' Mommy says, 'Josiah David, come.'"
Sorry this is a long, convoluted story...
After one of my last posts with the "pooping on the potty lollipop" I have to brag on my son. He has pooped on the potty 2 days in a row!!!! Sorry if this is TMI but it is very exciting for me to think maybe I won't have 3 kids using diapers at the same time!

So the rewards yesterday & today include:
2 kit kats
2 lollipops
2 icecreams
LOTS of sugar.

Today Eliana went to have immunizations. With Josiah I never gave him candy after shots. I just cuddled him. Well, today we killed 2 birds with 1 stone. Eliana got a lollipop after her shots & Josiah got his for pooping on the potty yesterday. (The kitkat had already been given after breakfast.) We had a crazy evening last night & he didn't get the ice cream but we told him we would do it today. I saw Blue Bell in a local store and we were going to go get some but hadn't had a chance. So all day he's been talking about getting Blue Bell ice cream.

We had lunch at Chili's with a friend today. Not a great experience as the kids were tired, Eliana had had vaccinations & didn't feel good, the service was slow, etc. The kids got OJ with their kids meals (at least here it's fresh squeezed OJ!). I was trying to have some sort of conversation with this friend who I rarely see & is leaving for summer holiday next week. So when the waiter brought Eliana a kid's cup full of Pepsi because he thought she was cute I decided this would buy me a few minutes. She didn't even like it but Josiah wanted it. (The kids occasionally have sips from our soft drinks but don't get them personally.) I had asked a couple of times for a refill of my Pepsi and hadn't gotten it. All of a sudden I had 2. So I gave 1 to Josiah. He downed the whole thing almost immediately. Eliana was just playing with hers.

Later when we were home Josiah went poop on the potty again. (This was the 2nd time.) In my head I'm calculating all the sugar he's already had today plus what he still "earned." So we went to the kitchen and he got his Kit Kat which he graciously shared with me. I didn't really want half but was hoping to reduce the sugar intake by just a little.

Jon is in town with us in Muscat because of some training with work today. It went a couple of hours late & our plans with 1 friend were canceled, so we invited someone else & met Jon for dinner. 2nd kids meal of the day- comes with juice. Again, at least it's fresh juice; this time watermelon. Josiah was still talking about the Blue Bell ice cream he was going to get. Now it's TWO ice creams!

After dinner we did go get ice cream. We didn't get the Blue Bell but went to a gelato place close by. Josiah got 1 scoop. Jon did pick up Blue Bell on the way home but Josiah doesn't know that. We'll see if he mentions anything or if he just forgets. Small chance of forgetting...

Was going to make a tally, but I don't even want to add up all the sugar he had today...

Last bit,
So after all that sugar he was a bit wound up. I was trying to hurry up bedtime and told him to go peepee on the potty. He was dawdling as usual. I said I needed to go downstairs and get something and he better be done when I get back. Somewhere in there I must have said "hurry up." So as I left the bathroom I heard him singing "I'm in a hurry to get things done. I rush and rush 'til life's no fun..." I had to chuckle. We haven't listened to Alabama sing that song in a few months but it's funny how things stick in kids' minds!

Hah!! That is soooo funny. It is hysterical how some of our convictions can temporarily go out the window in order to accomplish Greater Purposes. I'd say NOT having 3 kids in diapers at the same time is a Greater Purpose (= Loved the answer about the middle name...so telling! Hugs to you all!
